A rustic decomposed granite path leads you around the house to the backyard oasis: a down-sized lawn leaves more room for California native and other climate-friendly planting, an expanded concrete paver patio for entertaining, and quiet seating nooks for a good book in hand. Plenty of grass remains for black Labrador paws to happily run free.

 

Step down to the secret nook, hidden below a stone wall that drops below the lawn’s edge. Here, overlooking the creek, is the perfect spot to sit and listen to the birds and sounds of water below, and enjoy some peace.
